The Albany and Saratoga Centers for Pain Management medical team offers a comprehensive approach to the management of pain. We are dedicated to helping patients return to their active lives.
Dr. Ferrillo, owner and Medical Director, joined the Albany and Saratoga Centers for Pain Management in 2006 after earning his Medical Degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001 and has specialized in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Regenerative Medicine, and Pain Management.
His passion is in helping others with musculoskeletal pain problems. Dr. Ferrillo is double Board-Certified and licenced to practice medicine and surgery in N.Y. State.
Dr. Vohra joined the Albany & Saratoga Centers for Pain Management in 2010 after completing her Interventional Pain Management Fellowship from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2009. She completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at Nassau University Medical Center in 2008.
Dr. Vohra is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has a special interest in treating Degenerative Disc Disorder, headaches, and back & neck pain.
Dr. Apicella has since retired, however he served as the medical director of the Albany & Saratoga Centers for Pain Management. He relocated to Albany, NY in 1995 and established ASCPM in 1997.
He completed his Anesthesiology residency at SUNY Stony Brook in 1994 and his Pain Management Fellowship at SUNY Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Treatment Center in 1995.
Doctor Apicella has a special interest in Neuromodulation.
Dr. Sophie Scherl will join the Albany and Saratoga Centers for Pain Management in 2022 upon completing her fellowship in Interventional Spine & Sports Medicine at the Bodor Clinic in Napa, California. Dr. Scherl has a special interest in regenerative medicine for the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal problems.
Dr. Scherl obtained her BA from Brown University. She completed her MD at Albany Medical College and went on to complete her PMR and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency at Albany Medical Center in 2021. Dr. Scherl is accomplished and has published many articles relating to the thyroid.
Robert Akey, P.A. will join the Albany and Saratoga Centers for Pain Management in 2022. Robert Akey, P.A. has a special interest in sports medicine, including regenerative therapies and visco supplementation.
Robert Akey graduated as valedictorian of radiography from the School at UVM Hospital in 2004. Robert Akey finished his BS in Human Biology from University of Albany in 2016. Robert Akey worked as a radiographer at Albany Medical Center, then here at ASCPM for 6 years. Then graduated with a Masters in Physician Assistant studies at Albany Medical College.
